What's next?
I believe the marriage
ceremony is the most important part of your wedding day. My goal is to create
a ceremony that is inspired by you. I will share my experiences, resources
and ideas to build a ceremony that you, your family and friends will remember
and treasure.
Available to you will be several different wedding ceremony templates, poems,
vows and wedding formats that can be as a guide. We will create a service,
so that your wedding day begins with a beautiful personalized ceremony that
reflects the love between the two of you.
Before any ceremony planning begins, there are a few legal items that we must
address.
Marriage being a serious and binding commitment, society has generally taken the view that people under a certain age lack the maturity and experience to enter into it. In Australia, people are free to marry without permission when they are 18 years old. If they are under 16 years old, they may not marry, even with the permission of parents or guardians. Anyone between the ages of 16 and 18 must obtain written consent from their parents or legal guardians before they marry and must also obtain authorisation from a judge or magistrate. Enquires of your ages will occur and as a Justice of the Peace Qualified, I maybe of some assistance if you require further information regarding the above mentioned consent.
Once you have confirmed your booking with me, I will ask you to meet at a mutually convenient time and location, as there are several legal documents that must be filled in. The Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) must be completed at least one (1) month plus one (1) day prior to the marriage and not more than eighteen (18) months before. If you are Australian born, then I will need to sight your original birth certificate. If you are from overseas and you do not have your birth certificate, then your passport will be fine. For people who wish to marry and have been divorced, the Decree Absolute or Certificate of Divorce will need to be presented. If you are widowed please bring the Death Certificate for my viewing. All of these items will be necessary to correctly fill in the NOIM.
At the meeting I
will also go through my Statement of Fees, Refund Policy and Agreement For
Wedding Ceremony Contract. I will ask you some questions so I can get an idea
of your vision for your wedding ceremony. Once these items have been taken
care of, then the fun of creating your wedding ceremony can begin.
